Season 14 Preview

Season 14 Preview
The next season brings a wide set of balance adjustments, system improvements, and long-requested fixes. Our main goals are to improve competitive variety, reduce repetitive matchups, and create healthier long-term progression systems.

Competition Movement
Over multiple seasons, we have noticed limited movement within the S-Tier ecosystem. This is mainly caused by teams at the top accumulating large amounts of rank points over time, making it difficult for new contenders to break through.

We understand that facing the same opponents repeatedly can get boring, so we are introducing changes aimed at increasing competitive movement:

  • Rank point decay increased from 20% → 30%
  • Rank point decay will now also apply to C-Tier teams
  • New Championship Legends seed: previous season Championship Challengers winner

These changes are designed to create more movement between tiers over time. Rank points are not intended to be an infinite resource to accumulate forever, they are a tool to accurately group teams based on their current competitive level.

C-Tier Rank Decay
Previously, C-Tier teams were unaffected by rank point decay. This created an unintended cycle where teams could promote into B-Tier, lose points afterward, fall back into C-Tier, and repeat the process every season.

By applying decay to C-Tier as well, we aim to create a healthier promotion environment where teams consistently prove their level instead of relying on accumulated points.

Championship Stage Swiss Changes
We are changing how Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the Championship Swiss format work.

Previously, teams were required to complete all scheduled Swiss rounds, even after already achieving enough wins to qualify.

Starting next season, Swiss stages will use win/loss qualification cutoffs:

  • Teams that reach the required number of wins will immediately qualify.
  • Teams that reach the required number of losses will be eliminated.

This should reduce unnecessary matches and prevent situations where teams intentionally lose remaining games after qualification has already been secured.

Talent Reset System Rework
We are simplifying the talent reset experience.

Previously, resetting talents required assigning your player to the Analyst and manually resetting each talent individually.

Going forward:

  • Players can reset their entire talent tree directly from the player talent popup.
  • Each team will receive X free resets per season.
  • Additional resets can be purchased using CPL.

The Analyst reset skill will be reworked into a simple discount modifier for the CPL cost instead of being required for the reset process.

Heart System Rework
The current Heart system is heavily tied to a player's history with a specific team. While this represents loyalty, we want Hearts to better represent a player's overall professional career and experience.

To achieve this, Heart progression will now use Professional Points (PP).

New system:

Every official match played grants Professional Points.

  • Heart icons are now based on a player's total PP.
  • When transferring through the Transfer List, players will no longer lose all Heart progression.
  • Instead, transferred players will lose 50% of their Professional Points.

This allows experienced players to retain part of their career history while still representing the adjustment period of joining a new team.

Example:

A player has played 412 official games with Team A, reaching 412 Professional Points and earning a Golden Heart.

The player is transferred to Team B.

Upon joining Team B:

  • PP is reduced by 50%
  • 412 PP → 206 PP

With 206 PP, the player immediately starts with a Big Heart for Team B instead of starting from zero.

Game Engine Changes

Line of Sight Improvements
We are addressing remaining edge cases where enemy visibility does not behave correctly, especially on the Castle map.

These fixes should significantly improve consistency when detecting enemies and prevent situations where players incorrectly see or fail to see opponents.

Stronger Skill Scaling and Players performance
We are going to have skillpoints past 90 scale even more aggressive, in terms of accuracy and other factors so you can really tell how much better stronger players do.
We are also adding extra data on how players perform, like 1vX duels won, number of duels won when shot from behind, number of kills with certain weapons, etc.

Weapon Skill Relationship Adjustments
Currently, player skills affect all weapons the same way. This has created situations where certain skills are extremely valuable for some weapons but nearly useless for others.

For example:

  • Handling has limited impact on snipers because they have no recoil.
  • Rifles benefit from the current skill system more than slower firing weapons like pistol

To improve weapon identity, we are adjusting how skills interact with weapons.

Handling
Handling will now provide a hit chance bonus when switching or acquiring a new target.

The bonus will scale based on weapon fire rate:

  • Faster weapons receive a smaller benefit.
  • Slower weapons receive a larger benefit.

This should make handling more meaningful for precision weapons.

Quickness
Quickness will now improve hit chance on the first shot against an enemy.

This affects all weapons but should be especially impactful for slower weapons because their first shot is much more important.

Determination
Determination will now reduce the impact of the new flinch mechanic.

New Flinch Mechanic
We are introducing a new flinch system.

When a player is hit, they will temporarily receive an accuracy penalty, representing the difficulty of maintaining aim after taking damage.

Flinch strength will vary depending on the weapon:

  • Submachine guns and rifles will have low received flinch values.
  • Slow, high-impact weapons such as Deagles and snipers will have stronger received flinch effects.

Determination will reduce the impact of flinch, giving the skill more value when using slower weapons.

Additionally, different weapons will apply different levels of flinch. For example, SMGs will create stronger flinch effects compared to most other weapon categories.

Game engine changes will be released Saturday night for early testing.

Thank you,
The CPL Manager team

Hey alvartv, vielleicht hilft dir diese Passage aus einem unserer Help Documents weiter:

    How Weekly Missions Work

Weekly Missions refresh every week and are tailored to the current phase of the season:

    • Weeks 1 & 5: Focus more on non-competitive activities (training, tactics, academy, social, etc.) because there is more downtime from official matches.
    • Weeks 2, 3 & 4: Full variety with many missions centered around ladder, leagues, tournaments, and official games in general.
