Season 6 preview

Hello everyone!
In today's season preview we'll go over the changes planned for season 6.
Tiers update - A-Tier adjustment
We are pretty happy with how the C-Tier introduction worked out. We are not going to change much to the tier system other than reducing A-Tier population from 40% to 35%.
Despite this reduction there will still be more A-Tier teams this next season than season 5. This is mostly because an increment in the number of users overall.
Tournaments adjustments
We've been doing a lot of bugfixing and hope this next season all tournaments will run super smooth. We also added some quality of life improvements like pregenerating 3rd match in bo3.
And we are also making it so it's impossible for more than 2 teams from the same community to land in the same group, which is something nobody really wants.
Championship adjustments
We are tuning down the rank points prize of the playoffs. Since the teams not making out of the group stage don't receive any rank points it feels too punishing for them if the ones who made it receive that many rank points.
9-16th place rank points 3000 => 2000
5-8th place rank points 3750 => 3000
4th place 4500 (unchanged)
3th place 5000 (unchanged)
2nd place 5500 (unchanged)
1st place 6000 (unchanged)
Additionally we are going to keep working on the championship dedicated page to provide more information, as well as sending reminders to join and prepare.
Minor / Rookies cup adjustments
We are going to increase the number of slots for the minor tournament to 48 to mimic the format and schedule of the major.
These extra 16 teams will be those positioned #33 to #48 in Stage 3, and will be seeded to the bottom of the groups.
We are going to reduce the match stream money from 750 to 500 to compensate for the extra number of games.
We are doing the same with Rookies Cup and simply increasing the qualification slots from 32 to 48 on the preliminary phase.
Ladder and league adjustments
We are going to reduce the number of games of these two major competitions in order to add some breathing room on the first week of the season.
This will allow top teams to rest and weaker teams to prepare for championship Stage 1.
The way we are doing this is by reducing the number of teams per league from 12 to 11. This will reduce the number of league games from 22 to 20.
So league will start on Day 4 rather than Day 2. The prizes will stay as is.
As far as ladder goes we are reducing the total number of games from 30 to 26. So rather than starting on Day 2 it will start on Saturday Day 6.
We hope these changes make first week of the season feel more like a preseason and not so rushed. While also setting the ground and space for a soon to come Champions League.
For those of you who don't know, the Champions League is going to be a competition where the top teams from the top leagues are invited, and will be as prestigious as the championship.
ACADEMY REWORK
We have outlined a plan that would make the academy experience more exciting and fun.
Starting age
First, we are going to change the starting age for tryouts, from 13 to 15. That means it will take 2 seasons less for them to graduate.
We know this means 2 less limit points to upgrade, but don't worry. We are going to make the necessary adjustments so the starting limit compensates for that. These tryouts will also be more trained.
New scout staff
We know how frustrating it could be to not know about the tryouts special abilities before it's too late. So we are introducing a brand new staff called the Scout.
The way it's going to work is the staff can sit down and interview new tryouts. By finishing an interview you'll get to know extra info about the player like skills, abilities and favorite weapon.
So in order for that to work we are hiding some of the initial data randomly, this is basically 11 data points, 8 for all skills + 1 for fav map + 1 for fav weapon + 1 for special abilities.
We are also going to decrease the number of days to accept tryouts from 7 days to 2, more on that in the skills overview below.
This is what the scout skills will look like:
Insight: Initial knowledge about a Tryout. Higher star level increases the number of info points initially revealed fom 1 to 5.
Interviews: The talent scout can do interviews to uncover additional info points. Higher star levels decreases the time it takes to unlock and discover new info from 5 to 1 day.
Attraction: Increases the time TOs consider joining your Youth Academy. Higher star levels increases this time by 1 to 5 days.
We believe this changes will make the academy a bit fast paced and attractive.
Now to wrap up, a quick update on dust2. It is very likely we are pushing the map this season to be played on scrims and custom competitions. Stay tuned!
And last but not least, want to give a warm welcome to benni and spectrum to the game design team. They've been showing great dedication and feedback, and we are sure they'll help us make a better game for everyone.
Thanks,
The CPL Manager team.
