The Ladder is where you can truly test your skills on the global stage in CPL Manager. It offers daily, skill-based competition with a strong focus on consistency, adaptability, and long-term performance. Climb the ladder (pun intended!) and prove your management abilities against the entire player base, without being restricted by your tier.
Current Setup
- There is currently one main ladder per season.
- The ladder resets at the start of every new season, giving everyone a fresh chance to climb the rankings.
- Future plans include adding more ladders for additional variety and competition but this is all still tbd.
How the Ladder Works
- You play one ladder match per day.
- Wins award +14 points.
- There are no draws, overtime is enabled to ensure a decisive result every match.
- Your points determine your position on the global leaderboard first, then Buchholz Points, then round difference.
- Unlike other competition, the ladder is not tier-locked, you can face teams from any tier.
Placement Matches (First 4 Rounds)
The beginning of each ladder season features a special placement phase:
- The first 4 rounds are placement matches.
- Matchmaking during this phase is half-split rank based:
- Example with 400 teams: #1 plays #201, #2 plays #202, #3 plays #203, and so on.
- These matches do not count toward Buchholz points.
- Betting is disabled during the placement rounds.
- From Round 5 onward, normal matchmaking resumes with Buchholz starting at 0 for everyone.
Matchmaking explained
After the 4 placement matches, this is how Ladder matchmaking words:
- Every round the algorithm builds a pool of potential opponents, based on those with similar/closest points, W/L, as well as excluding recent opponents. From this pool it just picks one opponent randomly.
Rewards
At the end of each ladder season, players receive the following rewards based on their final ladder position:
Trophies & Medals:
- Positions 1 to 3 receive a trophy.
- Positions 4 to 10 receive a medal.
Rank Points:
- Top 60% → 300 RP
- Top 40% → 600 RP
- Top 20% → 1,000 RP
- Top 40 players → 1,240 RP base
- From position #40 onwards, each better position grants an additional +40 RP, scaling all the way up to 3,000 RP for #1
