Challenges / Scrims are friendly practice matches that let you test your lineups, tactics, loadouts and leader perks against real human opponents instead of bots without having to enter tournaments or other competitive environments. They’re one of the best ways to improve quickly, especially once you’ve moved past the early bot-filled leagues, they also play full 30 rounds. In CPL Manager you can arrange scrims in two ways: direct Challenges and the VIP-exclusive Scrim Finder.
Direct Challenges
The classic way to get a scrim.
- Go to any team’s profile page and click the “Challenge” button.
- Choose your preferred map & time slot and send the challenge.
- The challenged team receives a notification and can accept or decline.
- All direct scrims are played with Fog of War turned OFF. This means both teams can see each other’s tactics, buys, and positions. This is perfect for learning and giving/receiving feedback.
- There is no CPL cost and no impact on ladder or league standings with scrims. They are a free way to test your skills against other human players.
Pro tip: Don’t be shy to challenge top-tier teams! Many of the best managers are happy to scrim newer teams. It’s a great way to accelerate your progress.
Scrim Finder (VIP only)
Tired of sending challenges one by one? The Scrim Finder makes life easier.
- As a VIP member you get access to the Scrim Finder (you can find it under Challenges).
- Create a public scrim offer: select your opponent’s tier, the desired map, set the time, and wait for others to accept.
- Your offer appears in the Scrim Finder list for everyone to see.
- Any team can accept your offer with one click.
Why You Should Scrim
- Test new tactics and lineups in a real-player environment without risking league or ladder points.
- Learn from stronger teams by watching how top players execute their tactics. This is often very helpful for newer managers.
- Build relationships in the community. Many long-term rivalries and friendships start with a simple scrim request.
