Welcome to the Betting section of CPL Manager! Betting adds an exciting layer to managing your team, allowing you to put your predictions to the test and potentially earn extra CPL (our in-game currency). Currently, betting is only available for ladder matches, with plans to expand to other features and match types to bet on in the future. This guide will walk you through how betting works, including how to place bets, how odds are determined, and when you'll receive your payouts.
Getting Started with Betting
Betting is straightforward and integrated into the ladder system. Each ladder day, you can bet on the top 10 matches. Whether you're backing your own team or your favorite underdog, it's a great way to engage with the community and the competition.
- How to Place a Bet: Navigate to the Betting page on the site menu or move directly to the ladder section. Here you will see the top 10 matches for the ladder day and it's up to you how many of those you want to bet on. Choose the team you think will win and confirm your bet. Please note that in every season the ladder betting starts from Ladder Match 5 onwards as the matches before that are considered placement matches.
- Bet Amount: Every bet has a fixed cost of 60 CPL per match. This keeps things fair and simple for everyone.
- Betting Window: Bets are open until 1 hour before the matches start. After that, betting closes, and no more wagers can be placed.
- Changing your Bet: This is currently not possible.
Understanding the Odds
Unlike traditional betting where odds are set by bookkeepers, in CPL Manager, the ladder odds are dynamic and community-driven. They depend on how many players are betting on each team, creating a true reflection of the community's predictions.
- How Odds Fluctuate: Odds update in real-time based on the bets placed by other managers. If more people bet on one team, its odds will decrease (making it less rewarding to bet on the favorite), while the underdog's odds increase.
- Odds Range: To keep things balanced, odds have a minimum of 1.10 and a maximum of 2.20. This ensures there's always some incentive to bet, no matter the matchup.
- Final Odds: You're subject to the odds in place when betting closes (1 hour before the match). These are the odds used for any payouts, so keep an eye on fluctuations before the deadline!
Payouts and Rewards
If your chosen team wins, you'll receive a payout based on the final odds. Payouts are designed to reward smart predictions and add to your CPL stash.
- Payout Calculation: Your winnings are calculated as Bet Amount (60 CPL) x Odds at closing time. For example, if the final odds for your team are 1.50, you'd get 60 x 1.50 = 90 CPL (your original bet plus 30 CPL profit).
- When You'll Get Paid: Payouts are processed and added to your account usually 1 hour after the ladder matches started and when the ladder ranking updates. You will get a message sent to your inbox with your betting results to check how well you did.
Tips for Successful Betting
- Monitor the Odds: Since odds change based on community bets, check back often to see how the betting pool is shaping up.
- Bet Strategically: Backing underdogs can lead to higher payouts if they pull off an upset, but favorites offer more reliable (though lower) returns. Also, remember that it's up to you to choose how many matches you want to bet on. If a matchup seems too risky to bet on, don't and save your CPL.
- Stay Informed: Keep up with team stats, recent performances, and ladder standings to make informed choices.
